A
dual forecast (also called a "reverse forecast") is a type of bet where you predict which two selections will finish first and second in an event, but
in either order.
How it works:
- You pick two selections (e.g., horses, greyhounds, or runners)
- You win if your two selections finish 1st and 2nd in any combination
- It's essentially two straight forecast bets combined into one
Example:
If you place a dual forecast on Horse A and Horse B:
- You win if Horse A finishes 1st and Horse B finishes 2nd
- You also win if Horse B finishes 1st and Horse A finishes 2nd
Cost:
A dual forecast typically costs
twice the unit stake of a straight forecast since it covers both possible finishing orders.
Where to place dual forecast bets:
Most major UK bookmakers offer dual forecasts, including:
These are commonly available on horse racing, greyhound racing, and sometimes motor racing events.
Note: Payouts are usually lower than straight forecasts since you have twice the chance of winning, but higher than place-only bets since you need to predict the exact top two finishers.
